Pot Scrubbers

Now and then I get comments from people asking for directions how to make pot scrubbers from nylon or tulle. In the few weeks I have  received one such link and found two more. All sets of instructions show how to start with a piece of netting or tulle.

Here they are for your use :

Recent Updates

I apologize for the lack of updates in the past few weeks. I have been knitting and crocheting a variety of projects which have taken my attention away from this site.

The Illusion  Knitting Cloths page has been updated this week. Each link there has been cross referenced on the Knit Cloths page. Please take special not to the recent creations by the author of Goodnight Gram.

To those of you who celebrate Mothers’ Day: Have a wonderful day.

To those of you don’t: May your day be peaceful.

Good Morning

The past couple of days have been super busy. One of the reasons for that is because I took lots of time to update and add lot of links to this site. There was also time to reply to several comments.

I also added a page by splitting the Towels page into  Towels-Crochet and  Towels-Knit. My motivation was to make this site easier to use. If it doesn’t help, please let me know.

There are probably more dead links, for which I apologize. I will be looking for these as much as possible. If you see some that have been missed, please let me know so they can be corrected or removed.

My files are bursting with new links  to add here. There are not enough hours in my days to do as much as I want on this site. For some reason, my employer expects me to work when schedule; my family needs my attention, I need a bit of sleep; and a bit of time to knit or crochet is also needed.  I learned a long time ago it is better for me  to be busy than bored. :)

Have a great week!!

June Already

It is the first part of June already. Time flies quickly. I have been trying to add links and check pages a few times weekly.

The number and quality of cloths and other items which this blog covers is amazing.  I respect the creativity and energy  that goes into each one.

Have a great week!

Dish Cloth Maker’s Cry

I try very hard to keep this blog strictly for links

It’s an unwritten rule I have you see.

This evening that rule is being broken and for a very good reason.

For it is  a little over a  week before Christmas and I am in a state of frenzy…That I am indeed.

It has dawned on me in a sudden burst that there are lots of deadlines to meet.

Dishcloths to make, an afghan to be seamed, a comfortghan to be complete.

There are links to be added here for others to use. My files are still overflowing with things to share.

So much to do and so little time  to be had.

Blast this silly bug it had to land on me now!!

Two days lost  to it  never  again to be found.

Take a deep breath and calm yourself down.

Things will get one way or another.

That’s easy to think, I tell myself…

One…Two…Three deep breaths I take.

Almost calm, now I am.

Until suddenly….It comes to me:

Oh no! Oh no! Is my cry…Where can it be?  Where can it be? That yarn that is set aside for a special set of dishcloths.

It is to go to my Sister in Law you see.

It’s the yarn that is pink, blue, and white, with just a tint of green,

It was here when I rearranged part of my stash.

Where did it go? Oh where did it go?

Three large bins of Rubbermaid  have been searched.

I looked through skeins of red, white and green.

There was every shade of purple, yellow and blue.

But there was not a ball of Seashore by Bernat to be seen.

I am NOT in a panic…Why no, not me!

Never, Never  No, not me!

Be still my heart, or you’ll go a flutter.

At last..It dawns on me.

Look in the cabinet that holds cones and clear bins.

I might find it there…

Yes!! Yes!! It is there. four precious skeins of the yarn I see.

Now some new dishcloths they will be…

What pattern to use? What will I choose?

Who do I ask? I say to myself…Who will know?

Go online I say to myself

There are tons to be found.

Will they be square, rectangular or round?

The answers are yet to be found…

What matters for now is that the yarn is in my hand.

———————————————————-

Thank you gentle readers, for bearing with me as I expounded and vented  some of the frustrations felt today as I searched for some very important yarn.

May you each have much success in finding lost hooks, needles, looms, threads  and yarns. May your tools and hands be Blessed with Wisdom, Speed and Love as you make treasures for those you love and who need your love.

Please accept my thanks for using my site as a stopping place on your search for just the right gift! If you find one item of you use, then my time has not been in vain.

Please forgive my slowness to respond to each of you this year. Human frailty is my only excuse.
You have my promise of my best effort for more organization next year.

In the meantime, in case there is not time to post before:

May God Bless the Holiday Season for each of you. May you find Peace, Joy and Love now and in the days to come.

Blog Anniversary

One year ago, August 6, 2006, this blog was started at another blogging site. My motivation was my increasing fascination with dish and wash cloths. At that time I was not working outside the home and was beginning to search for free patterns available on the internet for these items. My original batch of dishcloths was wearing out after several years hard labor. It was time to replace them. There was plenty of cotton yarn in my stash. I wanted new patterns to keep me interested in replacing them. Thus began a blog that has truly changed my life.

Within a couple of months and after experiencing much frustration with the limitations of the previous site, I moved this blog here to WordPress. It was a good move. The people here have been and are very helpful with their support and encouragement. This includes the paid support staff who have answered my questions about Terms of Service and technical questions. It also includes the volunteers and readers of the Forums who have graciously given support and input when I have asked for it. Please accept my thanks.

This site has grown from having a few links in the sidebar to having 38 pages of patterns. There are also two pages waiting to be posted until a little bit more work has been done on them. The patterns listed here are mainly knitted or crocheted. One of my goals is to add a page with loomed dish or wash cloth patterns in the upcoming weeks.

This has proven to be an unusually busy summer which has permitted little time on the computer. That will be changing in the next couple of weeks.

I have no exact idea of the number of patterns listed here. There are more in my files to be listed as time allows.

The most amazing aspect of this blog is the number of hits it has received in the past year. It also amazes me to see how many times it is used on a daily basis. These numbers please and humble me at the same time. I never imagined in my wildest dreams that this blog would be referred to as frequently as it is. Thank you to each of you who finds this site useful.

The other aspect of this blog that surprises and delights me is to see it listed on the sidebar of other people’s Blogs. It is one thing for me to place a link on my blog, yet it is another matter to find my own blog on that of others. Thank you for finding it pleasing and useful enough to do so.

I also extend a sincere Thank You to the many designers who have granted permission to allow links to their work to be added to this blog. We as a members of the Fiber Arts community benefit from your generosity.

It is my most sincere hope and goal to maintain this blog in such a manner that it will continue to be a resource for makers and lovers of dish and wash cloths and related items for a long time.
