The pad itself will get hot and could cause burning or otherwise be a safety hazard. This is a real safety issue, in my opinion.
If you are wanting to use a pad to get an item out of the microwave, then use one that is made from cotton.
Please be careful.

a friend said place the pad in the microwave and when the dish is too hot you can use the pad to pick up the dish
