Anniversary

Today marks the Anniversary of this blog being hosted at WordPress.com. It will stay here as long as it and WordPress exist. The support is excellent, both in terms of the Forums and the Staff.  I cannot begin to say enough good things about them. Thank you!

The blog itself has grown tremendously.  Thank you to each and every one of you who reads and uses it.

Pink Slipper Project

I have recently learned about an organization that provides slippers to women and children living in domestic violence shelters.  It is  The Pink Slipper Project.  Slippers don’t have to be pink and they can be made using any pattern you feel comfortable using, for either women or children.  The site also includes free  downloadable patterns for knitting, crocheting or sewing slippers on the right hand sidebar. I can tell you from experience as a knitter and crocheter that those patterns are well written and easy to follow.

You will also find a list of sources for patterns here:

Free Slipper Patterns

Please take a look at the site and consider sending  a pair or two of slippers, or other items to this organization.

Sad News and Patterns

As many of you have probably heard, Pisgah Yarn and Dyeing Company is going out of business as of February 25, 2011.

If you want any of the free patterns on the site, you might consider getting them now. I have not heard what will happen to them after that date.

Also be advised that the purple cloth on the top of this page can be found on the Pisgah site at this location : Ballband Cloth . That  is where I got it.

It can also be found in a popular knitting book,: Mason Dixon Knitting by Kay Gardiner and Anne Shayne.

Updating

I am working on getting as much updating done in the next few days as possible. I will be working on the site as time allows to add new links and to correct or remove dead ones.
